A red deer calf of just a few days of age in June. Fleet of foot even at that age, fast enough to outrun a person, it stands under some pine trees with a carpet of spring grass and fresh bilberry leaves at it's feet. The spotted coat helps to conceal the young deer until late summer when the spots will have gone, outgrown by a thicker and more uniform reddish grey coat for the forthcoming winter.
