Snow lingering in the corries of Cairn Lochain, Cairngorm Mountains 29th July 2014. The winter of 2013/2014 saw record snowfalls on the hills above 900m in Scotland whereas the lower ground was affected by rain and sleet rather than snow. A few patches of snow last from one year to the next on high north east corries in the Cairngorms in most years, dependent on temperatures in late summer and autumn.
